Who is Beru Kids?
Beru Kids is a children's clothing line inspired by the eclectic, vibrant fabrics in sub-Saharan Africa. Our clothes are made in Southern CA and are designed for kids' ages 2-7 using surplus fabrics.
Beru Kids is dedicated to giving back to the communities that inspired us. We have partnered with an organization (Tangible Hope) that is investing in a large community development center in Kofele, Ethiopia.
What does Beru mean?
Berutite is the name of a very close family friend whose mother, Emebet, immigrated to the US from Ethiopia. They were a huge part of my upbringing, and I consider Berutite my sister. Berutite is now 16, and is not only kind and beautiful both inside and out, but is exceptionally wise beyond her years. She is the embodiment of a rising young leader, who inspired me to start a business that gives back to the same community from where her roots stem.
Beru Kids is driven to bring the same level of good to the world that Berutite has given to me.
Our Mission:
Our mission is to grow a business that produces high quality, unique kidswear while remaining socially focused. A portion of our profits go directly towards building a sewing cooperative within the community center in Kofele, Ethiopia.
Alongside our partner organization, our long term goal is to reinvest in multiple community development projects while remaining focused on continuously delivering the highest quality kids clothing.
